Storms erupted Wednesday afternoon over eastern Nebraska and western and central Iowa with reports of strong winds, hail and rain.
A viewer sent us a photo of a funnel cloud south of Dodge County. The National Weather Service says storms may have produced a funnel cloud near Howells in Colfax County. No damage or injuries were reported. In Saunders County, hail covered the ground near Morse Bluff.
In Iowa, winds of 70 mph, hail and torrential rain were reported in the Des Moines area. Tree limbs are down, with minor hail damage to cars. Some intersections were flooded from heavy rain.
Hail and heavy rain were also reported in the Carroll area.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the southern half of Iowa into Wednesday night. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for eastern Nebraska until early Thursday.
