Mayor Suffers Mini-Stroke; Flies Home In Air Ambulance

Aide: Paid For It Himself

CREATED 10:33 AM

Omaha, NE - Mayor Jim Suttle is undergoing tests in Omaha today after having what doctors think was a mini-stroke in Ireland last week.

The mayor returned to Omaha by air ambulance last night; a news release from his office says, "Although the mayor was doing better before leaving the hospital yesterday, doctors ar Naas General advised that he return to the United States via air ambulance to prevent any further risks to his health."

Aida Amoura, Suttle's director of communications, tells KMTV Action 3 News that he paid for the air ambulance himself.

Doctors believe he had a Transient Ischemic Attack, commonly referred to as a mini-stroke.

He was hospitalized Friday after complaining of "not feeling like himself." He was tired, dehydrated and had a spike in his blood pressure.

He had spent 10 days on an economic development tour in three European countries where Omaha has "sister" cities.
