Rain, Rain, and more Rain in the Metro

CREATED 10:19 PM

Bellevue, NE - It’s been 48 days since a measurable amount of rain fell at the Omaha Airport, and on Tuesday night that ended for some people in the metro.
The storm clouds came rolling into the Omaha metro area... around eight.
Some areas received rain, hail fell in other spots, and some people are still hoping the moisture heads their way.
It started as little drops.
Then came a downpour, sending people running into the streets.
“It was just an exciting downpour and we just decided to enjoy,” said Bellevue resident Eastin Yates.
As we drove through Sarpy County people were singing, dancing, and playing in the elements.
“It was starting to rain so we brought some boxes in, and then we have been out here playing ever since,” said Kris Yates. “We washed our hair in the rain water.”
The drops from the sky broke one of the longest dry spells on record, but with it came high winds, downed trees, and slick roadways.
Some say a small price to pay for a something that's so needed.
“We’ve just been praying for rain, we really have and now it’s here,” said Dorene Sherman. “We can’t even believe it because it’s so wonderful and it feels so good, and the earth is just saying thank you.”
