Ben Ainslie suggest he may retire after fourth Olympic gold

I'm so glad to have done it.

He said he had been burdened by public expectation of yet another gold.

"There's a huge amont of pressure on everyone to peform in the home games," he said. "It’s been really tough. It’s been the toughest couple of weeks of my life."

Ainslie won his first Olympc medal, a silver, in Atlanta 1996. He has won gold in every Games since.

Asked if he would attempt a fifth in Rio in 2016, equalling the record of Sir Steve Redgrave, Ainslie suggested he simply could not sail a boat to such a high standard again.

He said: “You never say never but I don’t think I can sail one of these again.

It’s killing my body. I’d be very surprised if you see me in Rio.”
