The trio of Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell and Dani King blasted around the polished boards accompanied by ear-splitting roars from another capacity crowd, smashing their own world record yet again to win the gold, with a time of three minutes 14.051 seconds.
"We knew from the previous time we had over two seconds on the Americans, but you never know what's going to happen in a final, because it's such a small amount of time between one ride and the next ride, so we just had to go out there and do our best basically," said Rowsell.
"So once we got out to a good start, but not start too hard - but I think we were up for it to begin with - and then the crowd was making so much noise, so we just stuck to our game plan, and they really helped us bring it home."
"We just came together as one really, we're like sisters, we know each other so well on and off the bike," said King. "We have so much trust in each other, and belief. We work so hard, and it just came together today perfectly, three world records in two days".
