Tom Daley talks about his 'awesome' celebration after winning Olympics bronze

"It was just an awesome moment. Everyone was just so happy because we got a medal in diving and we don't normally get a medal in diving so it was a great moment.

"It means we stay on funding so that helps too."

During the interview with the BBC he said that the bronze felt like a gold as it made all the sacrifices worth it.

"It just means so much," he said.

"All the sacrifices, the dedication, the early mornings and the hard work, everything. It feels great to now have something to show for it. An Olympic bronze medal. It just feels great."

He said that the pressure had almost been overwhelming.

"I have been secretly telling myself the pressure is fine and it is all good but deep down the pressure has been so much," he said.

"It was just incredible. I was in the call room waiting to go out and my heart was going and I was thinking this is it and I thought this is it.

"I have to go out and give it everything. Although the pressure has been tough the British public have been amazing."

He said that he called for the redive because a flash caught his eye mid-dive.

"It is supposed to be a home advantage rather than a disadvantage," he said.

"There was so much pressure to do it better than the one before to be worth doing.

"Luckily it was nearly 20 points better than the one before. Even if I had not done the redive I would have won the bronze medal but it would not have been as close to the Gold."

Meanwhile the BBC revealed that 15.9million people watched his performance.
