Tony Scott's last film projects

Tony Scott, director of Hollywood hits such as as Top Gun and Days of Thunder, was working on a raft of projects before his death last night. The 68 year-old died after jumping from a Los Angeles County bridge and his death was being investigated as a suicide, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said.

The two-hour Killing Lincoln, which was being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free Productions, is based on Bill O'Reilly's best-selling book Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever. The film is due to air in early 2013 and production began in Richmond, Virginia in July. Scott had been using rare historical archive and feature-film quality re-enactments with CGI to present the assassination. Scott was a history buff and last year produced a documentary about the Battle of Gettysburg for the History Channel.

The film will star Gran Torino actress Geraldine Hughes, LA Confidential actor Graham Beckel and Jesse Johnson. The Killing actor Billy Campbell has the title role of Abraham Lincoln.

The other project Scott was working on was the untitled diamond film, which featured a script written by Kelly Masterson. In a recent interview, Scott said he gained perspective by mixing things up between film, TV and commercials, adding: "I like changing the pace of my life, changing my discipline. It gives me ideas for how to see the world differently."

His most recent film productions were the feature film adaptation of the television series The A-Team and Unstoppable, both released in November 2010.

Scott, who lived in Beverly Hills, was married to the actress Donna Scott, with whom he had twin sons.He was born in North Shields, Northumberland, and frequently seen behind the camera in his signature faded red baseball cap, is credited with directing more than two dozen movies and television shows and producing nearly 50 titles.
