Man Steals Car With Eight-Year-Old Boy Still Inside

Mom, Good Samaritan Able To Track Him Down

Omaha, NE - What started as an ordinary Tuesday for one family quickly turned into a nightmare.

Police say a mom was dropping one of her children off at day care when somebody stole her car.  Even worse, her eight-year-old son was still inside.  It happened around 11:30 A.M. near Park and Woolworth Avenues.  Fortunately for the mom, the child was able to safely get out of the car.  Then, a good samaritan nearby was able to help her track down her son.

"Her son was walking up the street at Woolworth near Park Avenue," said good samaritan Joseph Shreffler.  "That's when we pulled over and he got into the car with us."

Police say the suspect was last seen travelling north on 29th Street in a Black Honda Accord.  Officers say he is a white man wearing a tan jacket and a bandana.
