In an 8-4 vote, Omaha's school board keeps president Freddie Gray.
Her leadership role came into question after the way she handled the Nancy Sebring email scandal.
"We're going to keep the profile that we established with our community and with our staff and our students, but we will be starting the process of looking for a superintendent shortly", says Gray.
The board thought they hired the best candidate for the job in April. But Sebring resigned before she even started, after it was revealed she sent emails to a lover on her district computer in Des Moines.
"Well I think whenever there's negative information out there about a client or potential company or employer that it's pertinent that they have to disclose all the information up front."
Scot Thompson works for C&A Industries, a recruiting firm for executive, health care and finance companies.
C&A Industries has never been hired by OPS, but their experts say trying to fill a superintendent spot surrounded by a scandal, could be difficult.
"I think it's important that they disclose all of that information up front so that they can find that individual, and it probably is fair to say that it would preclude some people for wanting that position", says Chief Executive Scot Thompson.
Already on the search, OPS hired PROACT Search recruiting firm.
It's not the same firm that brought them Sebring.
PROACT's president says they've already started to lightly recruit, and they won't have a problem finding the right person for Omaha's open spot.
