Fifty-Six Incidents of Stolen Hondas Reported in July
Omaha, NE - It's bad enough when a thief steals your car, but when it happens twice disbelief sets in.
"It escalates your problems and it frustrates you," said car theft victim Steve Wise.
Wise used to own a 1993 Honda Accord until someone crashed it during a joy ride.
"They took it to a Dollar General and drove it into the front of the store and totalled my car."
Wise's experience as a car theft victim is hardly unique. Last month alone, police responded to 56 thefts involving Hondas ranging from Civics to Accords and even motorcycles.
"It's an easy target car for them to be able to locate," said James Shade with the Omaha Police Department. "They're finding that the access is pretty easy."
The notice to police came out just one day before someone stole a Honda Accord with a child inside near Woolworth and Park Avenues. It serves as a reminder that thieves can strike at anytime.
"We encourage everyone to lock their car doors and put it into a garage if at all possible," said Shade.
