UPDATE: Driver Identified in Fatal I-80 Crash

Police say he's 16-year-old Richard Anderson of Council Bluffs

Omaha - Police identified the driver who died Friday afternoon on an I-80 entrance ramp.

26-year-old Richard E. Anderson, III, of Council Bluffs, was hauling away debris from Rosenblatt Stadium.  He was driving a tractor trailer owned by Anderson Excavation Company in Omaha.

Just before 4:00 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 13th street on-ramp of I-80.  They found the truck rolled over on its side.  The truck caught fire and spread quickly.  Police say several passers-by tried to help pull Anderson out of the cab, but were unsuccessful.  Anderson died at the scene.

Police say neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors.  Anderson was the only person in the truck, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
