NEW YORK -- Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson was not the lineup Sunday against Baltimore as he dealt with mild tendinitis in his right hamstring.

Granderson was pulled in the second inning of Saturday's win over the Orioles, and Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Saturday he wanted to see how Granderson felt on Sunday before making any decisions.

"We're gonna have to give him a day or two," Girardi said. "I'm not so sure if he'll play tomorrow, we'll have to check. The good thing is he didn't pull anything, but we're gonna have to give him a day or two."

Girardi doesn't think the injury will be a concern going forward.

"With rest and medication, you can rid yourself of tendinitis," he said.

The center fielder was yanked after striking out in his first at-bat Saturday. He said after the game he felt something while running out to center in the first inning and before his at-bat. While Granderson said he could've stayed in the game, the Yankees erred on the side of caution and pulled him.

An MRI did not reveal a strain or a tear for the All-Star.

"It's good," Granderson said about his MRI on Saturday. "But the good thing is even prior to that I didn't feel a pop or a snap or anything like that. Something just didn't feel right. I'm day to day. Probably not as soon as tomorrow, but it could be, so that's really good news."

The Yankees could really use Granderson's bat as they conclude this pivotal series with the Orioles.

With middle-of-the-lineup hitters Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira sidelined, and Granderson now unavailable, the team takes a hit in the power department. While Granderson is only hitting .235, his 34 homers pace the team and he also has 79 RBIs.

Chris Dickerson will play center in Granderson's place while Ichiro Suzuki mans left and Raul Ibanez plays in right field.
