ASHLAND, NE - The Mayor of Ashland is declaring Monday as a day of remembrance for Officer Daniel Ottis.  The 10 year veteran of the Ashland force died Tuesday night on his way to work. He was riding a motorcycle when a pickup truck crashed into him on Highway 6.  The pickup truck had been rear-ended.

Today, Mayor Paul Lienke issued a proclamation.  It not only declares Monday as a day of remembrance, it encourages businesses in Ashland to post the proclamation and allow employees time off for his funeral.

The service is Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Officer Ottits will be buried in Freemont.
